Strengthening Ties: Parlasur and Morocco's Diplomatic Engagement

Enhancing Diplomatic Relations between Parlasur and Morocco

In a recent press conference following discussions with Mr. Nasser Bourita, the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Gamarra emphasized the critical importance of the relationship between Parlasur and Morocco. He characterized Morocco not only as a brotherly nation but also as a pivotal gateway connecting the Arab world with Africa. Mr. Gamarra described the discussions held with Minister Bourita as "very fruitful," highlighting that such meetings serve as valuable opportunities to bridge perspectives and address shared interests between Africa and South America.

Furthermore, he underscored the essential role of parliamentary diplomacy in this context, reaffirming the commitment of Parlasur to act as a conduit for enhancing Morocco’s relations with countries within this South American bloc. This alignment is crucial as it fosters collaboration and mutual understanding. In addition, Mr. Gamarra, who serves as a member of the Paraguayan Parliament, reiterated his country's stance in support of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797, which endorses Morocco's sovereignty over the Sahara. He referred to this resolution as "a relevant milestone and a pathway to resolving a conflict that has persisted for far too long." Such affirmations reflect a growing solidarity and diplomatic synergy between Morocco and Parlasur member states.
