RABAT (dpa-AFX) - German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul is continuing his two-day visit to Morocco this Thursday. In the capital city of Rabat, the CDU politician is set to engage in a strategic dialogue with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations. Wadephul emphasized that amidst uncertainty and geopolitical tensions, it is essential for Germany to intensify exchanges with partners like Morocco.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Germany and Morocco. Wadephul sees significant growth potential in the economic ties between the two nations, particularly within sectors such as renewable energy, critical raw materials, and hydrogen technology. He highlighted the valuable contribution of Moroccan professionals, particularly in the German healthcare and nursing sectors, reinforcing the mutual benefits of such partnerships.
Furthermore, Wadephul acknowledged Morocco's stabilizing role in the region, noting the government's commitment to implementing a 20-point plan aimed at establishing peace in the Gaza Strip, as well as participating in an international security force. Both nations share a common goal of stabilizing the Sahel region to mitigate the causes of crises and displacement.
