Strengthening Ties: German Foreign Minister's Diplomatic Visit to Morocco

German Foreign Minister's Strategic Dialogue in Morocco

RABAT (dpa-AFX) - German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul is continuing his two-day visit to Morocco this Thursday. In the capital city of Rabat, the CDU politician is set to engage in a strategic dialogue with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations. Wadephul has articulated the goals of his visit, emphasizing that during these times of uncertainty and geopolitical tensions, it is essential for Germany to intensify its exchanges with partners like Morocco.

70 Years of Bilateral Relations and Future Opportunities

This year marks the 70th anniversary of bilateral relations between Germany and the North African nation. Wadephul perceives significant potential for growth in economic cooperation, particularly within sectors such as renewable energy, critical raw materials, and hydrogen technology. He highlighted the value that Moroccan professionals bring to the German healthcare and nursing sectors, underscoring their importance as a support system in these fields.

Moreover, Wadephul expressed the German government's appreciation for Morocco's stabilizing role in the region. He noted that the Moroccan government has agreed to participate in the implementation of a 20-point plan aimed at fostering peace in the Gaza Strip and contributing to an international security force. Both nations share a mutual objective of stabilizing the Sahel region to address the root causes of crises and migration.
