Strengthening Maritime Ties: INS Sudarshini's Successful Visit to Morocco

The Indian Navy's Sail Training Ship, INS Sudarshini, successfully wrapped up a significant port call in Casablanca, Morocco, on April 18, 2026. This visit was a vital milestone in bolstering the maritime partnership between India and Morocco, aligning with the ongoing Lokayan 26 deployment. The engagement not only underscored the commitment of both nations to enhance their naval capabilities but also highlighted the importance of collaborative training and mutual cooperation.

During the port call, the Commanding Officer of INS Sudarshini engaged in meaningful discussions with senior officials of the Moroccan Navy. These professional interactions centered around the potential for training exchanges and enhanced maritime cooperation, which are crucial for fostering a robust naval relationship. The spirit of the Lokayan initiative was vividly demonstrated through various training exercises, where Indian Navy trainees had the opportunity to interact with cadets from the Royal Moroccan Naval School. This included cross-deck visits and friendly sports matches, which facilitated camaraderie and mutual understanding between the two naval forces.

Moreover, diplomatic relations were further strengthened through an onboard reception hosted by INS Sudarshini, complemented by a reciprocal luncheon organized by the Royal Moroccan Navy. Such engagements not only fortified professional ties but also deepened cultural connections, paving the way for a more integrated maritime dialogue between the two nations. This visit serves as a reaffirmation of the growing maritime collaboration, driven by shared interests and strategic convergence, which are essential for maintaining peace and security in the region.

Following this fruitful engagement, INS Sudarshini is set to continue its journey to Las Palmas, Spain, further promoting the ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which embodies the idea of the world being one family, and emphasizing goodwill across international waters.
