By the end of March, a total of 2,029 tonnes (T) of fish were landed at this port, a significant reduction from the 3,124 T recorded during the same period in 2025. Species-Specific Trends in Fish Landings
Delving deeper into the specifics, the landings of pelagic fish have plummeted by an alarming 76%, amounting to only 107 T, which corresponds to a value of 1.20 MDH. This is a stark contrast to the 454 T that generated an estimated revenue of 2.34 MDH by the end of March 2025, reflecting a significant 49% decrease. Similarly, the capture of white fish within this port's infrastructure has also seen a downturn, decreasing by 46% to 823 T, with an estimated value of 22.04 MDH, down from 37.40 MDH for 1,519 T during the same timeframe last year.
In terms of cephalopod landings, the volume has decreased by 5%, with 1,099 T recorded, but interestingly, the revenue has increased by 11% to 92.93 MDH, compared to 1,151 T and 83.62 MDH at the same period in 2025. On a national scale, the total landings of marketed products from coastal and artisanal fishing reached 89,895 T by the end of March, reflecting a significant 34% decline compared to the previous year. In terms of value, these landings also fell by 3%, totaling over 3.11 billion dirhams (MMDH), down from more than 3.21 MMDH year-on-year.
