Royal Air Maroc Welcomes a New Boeing 737 to Its Fleet
In a significant boost to its operations, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has recently added a new Boeing 737-8 Max, registered as CN-RHP, to its fleet. This acquisition, which took place on April 19, represents a strategic move as the airline continues to enhance its fleet while engaging in leasing agreements rather than outright purchases. This latest addition is part of a larger contract with the American leasing company Aviation Capital Group (ACG), which includes a total of eight aircraft of the same type. The first of these aircraft was delivered to RAM on March 31, further solidifying the airline's commitment to modernizing its fleet.
Fleet Expansion Plans and Future Prospects
Royal Air Maroc's fleet now comprises 66 aircraft, marking an unprecedented milestone for the airline. The recent delivery of the Boeing 737-8 Max followed a flight from Seattle, which included a technical stopover in Gander, Canada, for refueling before arriving at Casablanca's Mohammed V Airport. This addition aligns with RAM's broader strategy to increase its fleet size to 88 aircraft by 2027. In a parallel development, RAM received another long-haul aircraft, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, on April 10, further enhancing its operational capabilities. Additionally, in January 2026, the airline signed a leasing agreement with Dubai Aerospace Enterprise for 13 more Boeing 737-8 Max jets, set to be delivered starting in 2027. Despite the ongoing endeavors to acquire new aircraft, RAM's plans to expand its fleet, which were initiated in 2024, have yet to progress significantly, with negotiations currently underway with major manufacturers such as Boeing, Airbus, and Embraer.
