In a significant move that underscores a clear strategy to enhance the presence of government-affiliated candidates in the upcoming electoral race, the National Rally of Independents (RNI) party announced on Friday, June 5, 2026, its decision to nominate four of its ministers along with a new president to participate in the anticipated legislative elections scheduled for September. This announcement came as part of the party's unveiling of its final list of candidates.
The nominated ministers include Karim Zidan, the Minister Delegate for Investment, Policy Coordination, and Public Policy Evaluation, who will compete in the Youssoufia district under the Marrakech-Safi region. The list also features Ahmed El Bouari, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water, and Forests, who will contest in the Wazan district within the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region.
Furthermore, the party has nominated Lahcen Saadi, the Secretary of State responsible for Traditional Industry and Social and Solidarity Economy, in the North Taroudant district of the Souss-Massa region. Additionally, the government spokesperson Mustafa Baitas has been selected to run in the Sidi Ifni district in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region, marking the party's strategic push by including four government members in its candidate lists.
