ONEE Activates Electrical Infrastructure for Desalination Plant

The National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) has officially announced the activation of the electrical connection infrastructure designed to supply the desalination plant located in the Casablanca-Settat region. This significant development marks a pivotal moment in enhancing the region's water supply capabilities, especially in light of the growing demand for potable water.

These newly established infrastructures involved an overall investment exceeding 486 million dirhams (MAD) and include the construction of a state-of-the-art 400/MT kV electrical substation at Lamharza Essahel. This facility boasts a capacity of 300 MVA, complemented by the establishment of a dual-circuit 400 kV transmission line stretching 50 kilometers for each circuit. Such advancements are crucial to ensure a reliable and robust power supply to support the functionality of the desalination plant.

This initiative is part of a broader national program aimed at developing the electric power transmission network, which is essential for improving, securing, and enhancing the quality of electricity supply across the kingdom. This enhancement is particularly beneficial for major structuring projects that are vital to the nation's infrastructure. By bolstering the electrical grid, ONEE is paving the way for sustainable water management practices that align with Morocco's strategic objectives in resource management.
