One Year Imprisonment and Fine for French-Algerian Influencer in Marrakech

On June 22, 2026, the Marrakech Court of First Instance sentenced a French influencer of Algerian descent, referred to by the initials “W.Y.”, to one year of imprisonment and a fine of 2000 dirhams. This decision followed her conviction for disseminating digital content on social media platforms.

The ruling came after the influencer was detained during an investigation initiated by the public prosecutor's office regarding videos and messages she had posted on her TikTok account while residing in Marrakech. The investigation revealed that the shared content included derogatory remarks and accusations directed at Moroccan citizens, as well as claims that were deemed offensive to public institutions and civil servants performing their duties.

The police apprehended the accused at Marrakech Menara Airport on June 13, 2026, while she was preparing to leave the country for France, acting on a national search warrant issued against her following the inquiry's findings. After completing the investigation and trial phases, the court issued its verdict of one year’s imprisonment and a financial penalty, with the ruling subject to appeal in accordance with applicable legal provisions.
