Casablanca Expands Infrastructure with New Road Link
The city of Casablanca is set to enhance its transportation network with the construction of a new road that will connect the Lissasfa area to the Azemmour road. Spanning approximately six kilometers, this ambitious project comes with a substantial budget of around 130 million dirhams. The primary objective of this initiative is to alleviate traffic congestion and improve urban planning in this part of the metropolitan area.
Located within the Hay Hassani district, the new roadway, provisionally named HH26, will link the El Jadida road (Avenue Abdellah Ibrahim) to the Azemmour road leading to the coast, traversing through Al Azhar road and the Charaf neighborhood. According to Tahar Layoussifi, the president of the Hay Hassani district, this project has been a priority since the commencement of the district council's mandate, engaging various institutional partners such as the Hay Hassani prefecture, the Casablanca-Settat region, and the Casablanca municipality.
"This collective mobilization has enabled us to realize a project deemed strategic for enhancing mobility within this section of the metropolis," Layoussifi stated in an interview with Le360. He further explained that the new road will serve as an alternative route to the Casablanca ring road, significantly contributing to the fluidity of traffic in the region.
In addition to its traffic management functions, the infrastructure will incorporate several urban enhancements aimed at improving the local environment. Among these features are the installation of energy-efficient LED public lighting and the planting of trees along the road. These improvements reflect a commitment to not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing urban development.
Layoussifi emphasized that this new road will complement existing transportation infrastructures already established in the district, noting that the HH20 and HH18 routes have already been opened to traffic as per the designated plans. Official names for these new roads will soon be assigned, with proposals already approved by the Hay Hassani district council, and announcements will be made once all procedures are finalized.
