Record Number of New Business Registrations in Morocco
According to the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC), an impressive total of 34,954 new businesses were registered during the first four months of 2026. This remarkable figure highlights the growing entrepreneurial spirit in Morocco and underscores the government’s ongoing efforts to foster a conducive environment for business creation.
Notably, a significant portion of these newly formed entities are legal persons, accounting for 75% of total registrations. In contrast, individual entrepreneurs represent the remaining 25%. The OMPIC's findings indicate that the most favored legal structure among these new businesses is the Single-member Limited Liability Company (SARL-AU), which constitutes approximately 65.6% of the registrations. This is followed by the Limited Liability Company (SARL), which makes up 33.5% of the new businesses.
Regional Distribution and Sectoral Insights
When examining the geographical distribution of these new businesses, the Casablanca-Settat region stands out, capturing 39.1% of all new registrations for legal persons. Other significant contributors include Rabat-Salé-Kénitra with 14.5%, Marrakech-Safi at 12.7%, and Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, which accounts for 10.4%. Collectively, these four regions represent a staggering 76.7% of all new business registrations in Morocco.
In terms of industry sectors, the newly established legal entities primarily operate in commerce, which constitutes 27.8% of the total. This is closely followed by the construction and real estate sectors, which account for 24.3%, and various service activities, contributing 19.9%. The transportation sector and the manufacturing industry each hold 7% of the market share of new registrations.
Additionally, during the period from January to April 2026, OMPIC issued 46,788 commercial names (negative certificates) to facilitate business registration. This surge in business establishment reflects a positive trend towards economic growth and innovation in Morocco, providing a strong foundation for future economic development.
