Morocco vs. El Salvador Friendly Match Canceled Ahead of World Cup

Cancellation of the Morocco-El Salvador Friendly Match

The friendly match between Morocco and El Salvador, scheduled for June 3 in the United States, has been officially canceled. This decision was announced by Yamil Bukele, the president of the El Salvador Football Federation, following a communication from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation regarding the difficulties in fielding a complete squad for the match due to the professional commitments of Moroccan players with their respective clubs.

In an attempt to salvage the encounter, the Moroccan federation proposed relocating the match to Morocco and rescheduling it for June 2, offering to cover all travel and accommodation expenses. However, this proposal was declined by the El Salvador federation, which cited FIFA regulations that prevent national teams from traveling and playing in two different continents within the same FIFA window, in addition to their already established commitments to another friendly match.

As a result of this development, the match against El Salvador has been officially shelved. Consequently, the Moroccan national team will now focus its preparation program during its training camp in the United States on the second friendly match, where they are set to face Norway on June 7 at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey. This match remains a crucial part of Morocco's preparation for upcoming international competitions.
