Morocco Launches Smart Patrol Vehicles to Enhance Urban Security

Introduction of Smart Patrol Vehicles in Rabat

In a significant advancement towards modernizing its law enforcement capabilities, Morocco's General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has initiated field operations with its innovative smart patrol vehicles, named "Aman" and "Madar," in the capital city of Rabat. This rollout commenced earlier this week as part of a carefully planned gradual deployment strategy. The DGSN has announced that these cutting-edge vehicles will soon extend their operations to other major cities, including Casablanca and Tangier, with plans for further expansion across the nation to various police headquarters.

Advanced Technology for Enhanced Security

The introduction of "Aman" and "Madar" was first unveiled to the public during the seventh edition of the DGSN Open Days, which took place in Rabat in May, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of the DGSN. This event highlighted the organization's commitment to showcasing its latest technological advancements, equipment, and security innovations, with a notable emphasis on the smart patrol vehicles. Designed and developed exclusively by the DGSN's in-house engineering and technical teams, "Aman" boasts an impressive array of features, including a sophisticated 360-degree camera system linked to automatic license plate recognition and real-time facial recognition capabilities. The integration of artificial intelligence allows for immediate visual checks while the vehicle patrols, significantly enhancing situational awareness and operational efficiency.

Moreover, the vehicles are equipped with a large internal screen that facilitates direct communication with command and coordination centers, enabling real-time information sharing with field units. This advanced system is strategically designed to bolster traffic management and crime prevention efforts throughout urban areas.

Complementing "Aman," the DGSN has also rolled out "Madar," a mobile smart surveillance platform that transforms conventional police vehicles into sophisticated monitoring units utilizing the same state-of-the-art artificial intelligence technology. Featuring an emergency light bar produced through 3D printing, "Madar" is equipped with high-resolution cameras capable of monitoring fast-moving vehicles across six traffic lanes simultaneously. Additionally, a central panoramic camera can rotate fully in less than three seconds, effectively eliminating blind spots and improving operational effectiveness. The vehicle's design includes integrated emergency lights strategically placed behind the windshield and within the front bumper, enhancing visibility during critical operations.

Both "Aman" and "Madar" are distinguished by their new visual identity, GPS tracking capabilities, and direct access to the DGSN's central database via an integrated police terminal. The deployment of these vehicles follows extensive development, field testing, and thorough training for the police officers tasked with their operation. As part of its ongoing commitment to modernizing police operations and enhancing public safety, the DGSN continues to innovate and adapt to the evolving demands of urban security.
