On April 7, 2026, Rashid Talbi Alami, the President of the House of Representatives, represented King Mohammed VI at the international 'One Health' summit held in Lyon, France. The summit was inaugurated with a reception for participating delegations, presided over by French President Emmanuel Macron. Alongside Talbi Alami, the Moroccan delegation included Leila Benali, the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, along with officials from the health sector and the Consul General of Morocco in Lyon, Rajae Benchaghi.
The 'One Health' summit marked a significant occasion as it gathered heads of state and government from around the globe for the first time. Additionally, the event featured representatives from various international and regional organizations, parliamentarians, scientists, private sector actors, civil society representatives, local governments, development banks, and youth. The primary objective of the summit was to expedite the implementation of the 'One Health' approach, which is founded on the fundamental belief that human health, animal health, and environmental health are intricately interconnected.
This summit is part of the broader 'One Planet Summit' series, which is currently in its ninth edition. The 'One Health' initiative aims to foster collaboration among diverse sectors and stakeholders to address global health challenges comprehensively and effectively.
