Morocco's Impressive Performance Against Madagascar
In preparation for the upcoming World Cup, the Moroccan national team showcased a significantly revamped lineup during their friendly match against Madagascar. Captain Mehdi El Kajoui took his position in goal, supported by a solid defense consisting of Noussair Mazraoui, Issoufou Diop, Reda Halhal, and Anass Salah-Eddine. The midfield was anchored by Sofyan Amrabat and Abdelhamid Bouaddi, while the attacking front was energized by Ismael Saibari, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, and Amine Amaimouni, forming a dynamic trio that kept the pressure on their opponents.
From the very first whistle, the Lions of the Atlas set the pace of the match, dominating possession against a Malagasy side that remained compact within their own defensive third. Morocco's control of the game quickly translated into a flurry of opportunities and relentless pressure on the Malagasy goal.
In the 4th minute, following a curling corner taken by Bilal El Khannouss, Ismael Saibari found himself unmarked at the far post and executed a powerful header that left the goalkeeper with no chance, putting Morocco ahead 1-0. As the match progressed, the Lions continued to assert their dominance and came close to extending their lead. In the 19th minute, Noussair Mazraoui unleashed a thunderous shot from outside the box that rattled the crossbar, with the Malagasy keeper appearing to be outmatched.
However, it was only a matter of time before the scoreline reflected Morocco's superiority. At the 25-minute mark, Saibari capitalized on a defensive error from Madagascar, recovering the ball, penetrating the box, and finishing with a left-footed shot that doubled the lead to 2-0.
With the Atlas Lions in complete control, they could have further increased their advantage before halftime. Saibari, in particular, was in excellent form but squandered three clear-cut chances to complete his hat-trick. Meanwhile, Mehdi El Kajoui enjoyed a relatively quiet first half, as the Malagasy team struggled to mount any significant threat, leaving Morocco's defense unchallenged.
