Moroccan Stock Market Declines Amid Sector Losses

On Wednesday, the Moroccan stock market experienced a downturn, as the Moroccan All Shares index fell by 0.08% by the close of trading in Casablanca. This decline was primarily driven by losses across key sectors, including Utilities, Banking, and Mining, which collectively weighed down the overall market performance. Despite the overall negative trend, a few stocks managed to stand out and gain traction during the session.

Among the notable performers, Bmce Bank (CSE:BOA) saw an impressive increase, rising by 1.97%, which translated to a gain of 4.00 points, bringing its trading value to 207.00. Similarly, CIH (CSE:CIH) recorded a rise of 1.39%, adding 5.00 points to close at 365.00, while Miniere Touissit (CSE:CMT) climbed by 1.25%, or 60.00 points, concluding the day at 4,860.00.

Conversely, the market also witnessed significant declines among several companies. M2M Group (CSE:M2M) was one of the worst performers, plummeting by 5.17%, which equated to a drop of 22.90 points, ending at 420.05. IB Maroc Com SA (CSE:IBC) followed closely behind, decreasing by 4.96% or 3.50 points to finish at 67.00, and Ennakl Automobiles (CSE:NKL) fell by 3.87%, down 2.11 points to close at 52.47.

Overall, the falling stocks significantly outnumbered the advancing ones on the Casablanca Stock Exchange, with a ratio of 40 declining stocks to just 16 that advanced, while 3 stocks remained unchanged. In commodities trading, crude oil prices showed a notable increase, with June delivery rising by 5.39% to reach $105.32 per barrel, while Brent oil for July delivery increased by 5.25% to $109.88 per barrel. Conversely, the June Gold Futures contract registered a decrease of 1.21%, trading at $4,552.69 per troy ounce.

In the currency markets, the EUR/MAD exchange rate increased by 0.10%, reaching 10.83, while the USD/MAD remained stable at 9.25. The US Dollar Index Futures also saw an uptick of 0.18%, settling at 98.65.
