Moroccan Military Officers Arrive in Israel to Support International Stabilization Force

Moroccan Military Personnel Join International Efforts in Israel

In a significant development in international military cooperation, officers from the Moroccan military have landed in Israel to participate in the International Stabilization Force (ISF), an initiative established under the Board of Peace, as announced on June 24, 2026. This board was initiated by former U.S. President Donald Trump in February, marking a new chapter in diplomatic and military relations in the region.

The ISF is poised to include troops from various countries, including Indonesia, Albania, Kosovo, and Greece, and is specifically tasked with operations in the Gaza Strip. This deployment is part of the second phase of a broader American peace plan that aims for a progressive withdrawal of Israeli forces from Palestinian territories. Although the precise timeline for these deployments remains unclear, reports suggest that Morocco and Indonesia will contribute the largest contingents, with Moroccan planning officers already in Israel to engage in discussions about the force's structure and operational strategies.

According to an anonymous source from the Board of Peace, a small contingent of Moroccan officers arrived at the ISF headquarters in Kiryat Gat, southern Israel, on June 18. Their expertise is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the overall framework of the stabilization force, focusing on various operational areas, including policing. The presence of these Moroccan officers is viewed as a reinforcement of the international efforts aimed at aiding the people of Gaza, reflecting Morocco's commitment to global peacekeeping initiatives.

In February, Morocco notably became the first Arab nation to publicly commit to sending police and military personnel to the Gaza Strip, showcasing its willingness to engage in international peacekeeping endeavors. The ISF is anticipated to comprise around 5,000 Indonesian soldiers, along with additional troops from Kazakhstan, Albania, and Kosovo, contributing to a multinational approach to stabilizing the region.

Despite these developments, tangible progress has been elusive. The second phase of the Trump plan for Gaza, which received backing from the United Nations Security Council, aims to facilitate a definitive resolution to the conflict that escalated following Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. While a ceasefire was established in October, the situation remains precarious, with both Israel and Hamas frequently accusing each other of ceasefire violations. Reports indicate that over 1,027 Palestinians have lost their lives since the ceasefire commenced, according to statistics from the Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza, while the Israeli military has confirmed the deaths of five soldiers during the same period.
