Moroccan Front for Palestine Condemns Violence Against Solidarity Protests

Condemnation of Violence Against Palestinian Supporters

The Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine and Opposing Normalization has vehemently condemned the violent actions perpetrated by an individual affiliated with Zionist elements against a protest organized in Marrakech to commemorate Palestinian Land Day. This incident highlights the ongoing tensions surrounding the Palestinian cause and the struggles faced by those advocating for it.

Recently, a video surfaced on digital platforms showing an individual aggressively confronting a solidarity gathering in Marrakech, expressing support for the crimes committed by Israeli authorities. Such displays of hostility not only undermine the efforts of those advocating for Palestinian rights but also reveal the deep divisions within society regarding this critical issue.

In a statement received by the newspaper “Voice of Morocco,” the Front also denounced the intervention of a representative from local authorities in Rabat during the Land Day protest. This interference was characterized as a desperate attempt to intimidate the activists and impose specific stances and narratives upon them. The Front's leaders emphasized that such actions are unacceptable and counterproductive to the dialogue needed to address the situation in Palestine.

Calling for Global Awareness and Action

The statement further highlighted the alarming conditions in Palestine, specifically condemning the continued closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre to worshippers. This ongoing situation is viewed as a blatant violation of religious freedom and the historical and legal status of the holy city, raising concerns about the rights of individuals seeking to practice their faith.

Moreover, the Front expressed outrage over what they termed as an unjust sentence against rapper Sohaib Qabli, who received an eight-month prison term due to his anti-normalization songs. This ruling is seen as an infringement on freedom of expression and a direct attack on voices supporting the Palestinian cause, illustrating the risks faced by artists and activists in expressing their solidarity.

In light of these developments, the Front has called for widespread participation in the global campaign against the criminal law permitting the execution of Palestinian prisoners. They also announced plans to commemorate Palestinian Prisoners' Day on April 17, which will include a national seminar and a formal letter of protest directed to the United Nations through its office in Rabat, urging the international community to take action against these injustices.
