Moroccan Embassy in Portugal Launches Mobile Consulate for Local Community

Mobile Consulate Initiative Enhances Access to Services for Moroccans in Porto

The Moroccan Embassy in Portugal took significant strides to enhance accessibility to consular services for the Moroccan community in Porto and its surrounding areas by organizing a mobile consulate event on Saturday. This initiative, which extended into Sunday, is part of a broader strategy aimed at bringing essential consular services closer to Moroccans residing in the region. The outreach operation aligns with the embassy’s commitment to a proximity policy, which is guided by royal directives and the recommendations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad.

During this outreach, the embassy provided a comprehensive suite of consular services, effectively alleviating the need for citizens to make the lengthy journey to Lisbon. This was particularly beneficial for individuals balancing professional obligations and family commitments. Over the course of the operation, more than 600 consular services were successfully rendered to nearly 400 community members, enabling them to complete various administrative tasks with ease.

The range of services offered during this initiative included consular registration, renewal of passports and national identity cards, issuance of civil status documents, legalization of signatures, and provision of official documents. Additionally, embassy representatives were available to address citizens’ inquiries and process requests, ensuring that the needs of the Moroccan diaspora were met efficiently and effectively. The strong turnout for the mobile consulate operation received positive feedback from attendees, with many expressing their appreciation for the high quality of services provided and advocating for the continuation of such initiatives in the future.

Moreover, the Moroccan Embassy in Lisbon acknowledged the valuable collaboration of the Assalam Association, which played a crucial role in the success of this operation. The collective effort not only highlights the embassy's dedication to serving its citizens abroad but also reflects the strong community spirit among Moroccans living in Portugal.
