Massive Protest in Rabat Calls for End to Normalization with Israel

On Sunday, a significant demonstration took place in Rabat, Morocco, where thousands gathered to demand the cessation of the normalization of relations between the Moroccan government, known as the Makhzen, and the Israeli state. This event echoed the persistent support of the Moroccan people for Palestine, which has been subjected to systematic violations and aggression by the occupying forces. Demonstrators met at the "Bab El Had" square before marching through the main streets of Rabat, waving Palestinian flags and holding signs denouncing the ongoing normalization efforts between the Makhzen and Israel, accused of committing atrocities against the Palestinian people.

Chants of "Down with normalization!", "No to occupation and Zionism!", and "Gaza is starving!" reverberated throughout the streets as participants united under the call of the National Action Group for Palestine. Various political parties, including the Justice and Development Party (PJD), the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS), and the General Union of Moroccan Workers (UGTM), also joined the protest, showcasing a broad coalition of support against normalization.

During the rally, Abdelhafid Sriti, the national coordinator of the National Action Group for Palestine, urged an end to normalization with Israel and called for the severing of all ties with the Zionist entities. He encouraged the Moroccan government to follow the lead of some European nations that have opted to cease cooperation with Israel in light of its actions against Palestinians. Rachid Fellouli, another key speaker and coordinator of the Moroccan Initiative for Palestinian Support, emphasized that the demonstration underscored the Moroccan people's unwavering commitment to halting normalization and any form of cooperation with Israel.
