The Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation announced today, Monday, that the city of Marrakech will host the "Ministerial Meeting of the International Coalition to Defeat ISIS" this Wednesday, featuring the participation of U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken. This significant gathering aims to enhance international engagement and coordination in the ongoing fight against ISIS, with a particular focus on Africa and the evolving terrorist threats in the Middle East and other regions.
According to the ministry's statement, the meeting will provide an opportunity for coalition ministers to review initiatives taken to ensure stability in areas previously affected by ISIS attacks. This will include strategic communications efforts to counteract the extremist propaganda propagated by the terrorist organization and its followers, as well as actions to combat foreign terrorist fighters. Furthermore, it is anticipated that this meeting in Marrakech will yield additional guidance and concrete responses to address the rising tide of extremism in Africa.
The International Coalition to Defeat ISIS was established in September 2014, comprising 84 countries and partner organizations from around the globe. The collaborative efforts within this coalition are crucial in tackling the persistent threat posed by ISIS and ensuring the safety and stability of impacted regions.
