Transforming Workplace Mental Health in Morocco
The city of Rabat recently witnessed the launch of the MH First platform, an initiative aimed at promoting mental health in professional environments across Morocco. This significant event took place at Mohammed V University, specifically within the Faculty of Educational Sciences, and was centered around the theme "Anticipate Rather Than React: Transforming Mental Health into a Lever for Sustainable Performance." The conference brought together decision-makers, academics, healthcare professionals, and sports stakeholders to address the critical issues surrounding mental health prevention in the workplace.
Abdellatif Kidai, the Dean of the Faculty, emphasized that mental health has become a fundamental pillar of individual well-being and collective performance. He called for it to be recognized as a strategic priority, highlighting the university's essential role in raising awareness and providing training on these important issues. The MH First platform, initially developed in Belgium by Seen-Apps, Human Orga, and WingedProw Advisory, has been tailored to the Moroccan context with support from SNM Consulting. Its primary goal is to establish a national ecosystem for mental health prevention, guided by a collaborative and data-driven approach.
Building Bridges for Mental Health Awareness
Boussa El Ouafi, co-founder of the initiative, articulated the ambition of MH First to create connections between experts and professionals by providing tools that enhance understanding and anticipation of mental health challenges. Gaëtan Hennen, another co-founder, stressed the importance of linking scientific data to practical actions, allowing organizations to prevent fragility rather than simply responding to it. This sentiment was echoed by Adrien Bailly, a neurosciences psychologist, who highlighted the vital role of data in identifying needs and implementing tailored solutions.
The discussions at the conference shed light on the growing challenges related to mental health, particularly among young people and within professional and sporting environments. The consensus was that a preventive approach based on early indicators is essential. To this end, three practical workshops were concurrently held, focusing on the healthcare system and the impact of digital solutions in prevention, the connection between sports and sustainable performance, and the quality of life at work as a performance lever.
This conference marks the beginning of a series of meetings centered around the MH First platform, with a subsequent event planned in Casablanca at the ESCA School of Management to continue the momentum of awareness-raising efforts.
