Launch of Vocational Training Program in Marrakech
In a significant move to bolster the traditional craft sector in Morocco, the Ministry of Economic Inclusion, Small Enterprises, Employment, and Skills, in close partnership with the State Secretariat for Traditional Industries and Social Economy, has officially launched a new vocational training season in the heart of the old city of Marrakech. This initiative aims to provide training for an impressive 30,000 trainees nationwide, focusing on equipping young individuals with the necessary skills to thrive in the job market.
The program was inaugurated with the presence of key government officials, including the Minister Delegate responsible for Traditional Industries and Social Economy, alongside the Minister of Employment and representatives from various professional chambers. Notably, this year’s training scheme expands the number of crafts offered to 103, significantly enhancing the scope of vocational training available.
To support this initiative, the government has introduced a financial incentive of 5,000 dirhams for raw materials, easing the financial burden on both trainees and trainers. Moreover, a monthly compensation of 300 dirhams will be provided to teachers and supervisors for each trainee, ensuring that quality education and mentorship are at the forefront of this program. Another progressive step is the government’s decision to raise the age limit for enrollment in training programs to 40 years, aiming to empower women in rural areas and facilitate their economic integration while promoting the value of national products.
This comprehensive vocational training initiative not only seeks to preserve traditional crafts but also aims to foster economic opportunities for young Moroccans, thereby enhancing the overall socio-economic landscape of the country.
