Launch of the Novel Writing Forum in Rabat: A Platform for Amazigh Authors

Inauguration of the Novel Writing Forum in Rabat

The Novel Writing Forum aimed at supporting Amazigh authors commenced on April 6, 2026, in Rabat, under the auspices of the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture (IRCAM). Esteemed writers such as Mohamed Nedali, Ahmed Boukous, and Abdelkrim Jouiti participated in this literary event. The forum is themed "Autofiction and Novel Writing: Experiences and Approaches" and seeks to foster an environment of exchange among authors from various regions of Morocco. The goal is to enable Amazigh novelists to directly interact with renowned literary figures to gain insights from their experiences.

Encouraging Literary Dialogue and Exploration

This initiative aims to initiate a collective dialogue on the challenges surrounding novel writing, allowing participants to exchange artistic and aesthetic viewpoints. It encourages authors to consciously utilize various narrative tools, enhancing their literary craft. During the event, Ahmed El Mounadi, director of the IRCAM's Center for Artistic Studies and Literary Expressions, emphasized the importance of the discussions presented, which open up extensive perspectives on critical issues central to novel writing. He pointed out that the essays cover significant themes such as the imagination in autobiographical writing, thesis novels, and the connection between historical writing and novelistic narration.

Moreover, Professor Mohamed Dahi from Mohammed V University in Rabat highlighted the increasing interest in autobiographical writing, noting its pivotal role in documenting the historiographical trend known as "History from Below" and in constructing collective memory through the exploration of marginalized spaces. This growing interest has led to profound transformations in writing, moving beyond rigid classical classifications towards the creation of hybrid texts that blend autobiographical rigor and the freedom of novelistic fiction.

On the third day of the forum, an interactive session with writer Nedali will take place, allowing attendees to delve into his creative journey. The second day will feature presentations on Ahmed Boukous's narrative experiences, delivered by researchers Larbi Moumouch and Abdelilah Karim, while the final day will focus on the novelistic journey of Abdelkrim Jouiti. This forum not only represents a significant step in promoting Amazigh literature but also serves as a vital platform for collaboration and creative exchange.
