Jardin de Poème in Rabat: Youth Immersion in World Poetry Day

Celebrating Poetry: The Jardin de Poème Initiative in Rabat

The inaugural edition of the "Jardin de Poème" event is set to take place from April 30 to May 2, 2026, in Rabat, coinciding with the celebrations of World Poetry Day and the designation of Rabat as the World Capital of Books. This initiative, supported by several educational and institutional partners, aims to foster poetic creation among the youth while highlighting emerging talents in the literary world.

Workshops to Nurture Young Talent

At the heart of Rabat's cultural activities, the "Jardin de Poème" seeks to promote both reading and writing through a series of engaging workshops. Targeting students and young adults over the age of 20 who have a keen interest in poetry and literature, these workshops will offer both theoretical and practical training in poetic writing. Participants are expected to develop their artistic sensitivity and acquire essential tools for self-expression.

The program includes a visit to the International Book Fair, where participants will explore the Pavilion of the House of Poetry, discovering its publications and various activities. The event will culminate in an open mic night dedicated to showcasing the works of young poets, providing them with a platform to present their texts to an audience. Symbolic prizes, including poetry collections and certificates, will be awarded to encourage continued engagement in literary creation.

Additionally, the closing night will pay tribute to the esteemed poet and zajjal Mourad El Kadiri, who is a well-known figure in Moroccan poetry and the president of the House of Poetry. He will recite some of his works, accompanied by a testimony from poetess Fatiha Nouhou regarding her artistic journey. The event, organized with the support of the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, in collaboration with the Al-Fath High School Parents' Association, will also feature performances by artist Mohamed El Achraqi, who will interpret contemporary Moroccan poetry, along with Jamal El Ghiyouani, who will present his compositions inspired by the ghiyouan style.
