Engaging Discussions and Cultural Reflections
The 12th edition of the cultural program 'Street Journalism' is set to take place from August 24 to August 28, offering a platform for critical discussions surrounding pressing global issues. This year, the program features a total of 18 activities, which include conferences, round tables, film screenings, and a notable exhibition. These events will delve into significant topics such as the Middle East conflict, the current situation in Morocco, the dynamics of superpowers in international geopolitics, disinformation, human rights, and the present circumstances in countries like Cuba and China, among other pertinent subjects.
In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the tragic events of March 3, 1976, a special day has been dedicated to this historical occurrence, with the programming on August 28 entirely focused on the impact it had on Vitoria-Gasteiz. Sonia Díaz de Corcuera, the City Councilor for Culture, emphasized the importance of providing a space for reflection on this pivotal moment in the city’s history. The discussions aim to foster an open dialogue for both citizens and experts alike.
Film Screenings and Photographic Exhibitions
The program will feature a rich array of activities, including conferences and discussions led by correspondents, special envoys, and photojournalists who report from conflict zones. Sessions will occur at 12:00 PM and 7:00 PM at the Europa Congress Palace, with free admission until capacity is reached. To conclude each day, a film series related to the discussed themes will be screened at Florida cinemas at 9:30 PM. Following these screenings, there will be forums with experts to further explore the subjects presented in the films, with tickets priced at just three euros.
Additionally, the exhibition titled 'The Nobodies of War' by journalist and political scientist Natalia Sancha will be on display on Avenida Gasteiz, adjacent to the Europa Congress Palace, from August 18 to September 13. This poignant exhibition narrates the collateral effects of war, shedding light on untold survival stories often overshadowed by the daily violence experienced in conflict areas.
