Discover the Magic of Children's Literature at the La Cigogne Volubile Festival
From June 8 to 13, 2026, the French Institute in Morocco is set to host aspiring young readers at the 14th edition of the "La Cigogne Volubile" Children's Literature Festival. This vibrant event invites both children and adults to partake in innovative activities across several cities, including Marrakech, Essaouira, Meknes, Fez, Oujda, El Jadida, Agadir, Kenitra, Tangier, and Tetouan. The festival aims to celebrate and explore the domain of children's publishing, creating a space for interaction between readers, writers, and spectators alike.
This year's festival centers around the theme of "Emotion and Inclusion," aligning with the 2025-2026 cultural season dedicated to youth, dubbed "G-L-Yom" (Jeunes, Littérature, et You). It serves as an invitation to delve into the richness of emotions and to embrace differences with openness and kindness through the mediums of reading and imagery. By fostering a sense of community and empathy, the festival aims to nurture a love for literature among the younger generation.
Targeting children aged 4 to 12, the festival will feature twelve French authors and illustrators, including notable figures such as Astrid Dubord, Henri Monnier, Nadine Bran-Cosme, and Mariama Diallo. Over the course of six days, attendees can look forward to engaging activities including author meet-and-greets, book signings, creative workshops, and story reading sessions, all designed to enhance the literary experience.
Furthermore, the program will showcase immersive digital experiences, including virtual reality, a digital museum, and animated film screenings. Among the exhibitions, attendees can expect to see "Lune" by author Chloé Fraser and "Moi et les autres" from the publishing house "L'école des loisirs." These activities aim to create a dynamic atmosphere that encourages exploration and interaction, ensuring that the festival is not just an event, but an unforgettable journey into the world of children's literature.
