This significant event was overseen by Abdelaziz El Boujdaini, the Secretary General of the Communication Department, marking a critical step in the transitional phase of the council's operations. The establishment of this commission is mandated by Article 96 of Law No. 09.26, which pertains to the reorganization of the National Press Council. During this transitional period, the commission is tasked with executing the essential functions of the CNP while preparing for the upcoming elections of journalist and publisher representatives.

The Provisional Commission is chaired by Hassan Jabir, who serves as a representative of the Higher Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ). Its membership includes Abdelghani Bardi, representing the National Council of Human Rights (CNDH); Mohamed Benkaddour, representing the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE); Abderrahim Ariri, who is the newspaper publishers' representative appointed by the Head of Government; and Yassine Omari, the professional journalists' representative, also designated by the Head of Government. This diverse composition is intended to ensure a broad representation of interests within the media sector.

According to the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication - Communication Department, the inaugural meeting of the commission is scheduled for Monday, July 27, 2026. This meeting will adhere to the legal timeframe established by the law following its publication in the Official Bulletin.
