New Bus Fleet to Boost Educational Accessibility
The provincial council of Chtouka Aït Baha recently convened an extraordinary session aimed at reviewing and approving a significant partnership agreement. This initiative is focused on enhancing the school transport services within the region. Chaired by the council president, Aïdar Assit, and attended by the province's governor, Mohamed Salem Sebti, this session emphasized the critical nature of this agreement. It outlines a plan to acquire 30 new buses dedicated to improving school transport services across various municipalities in the province. The goal is to elevate the quality of services provided to students and bolster the logistical capacities associated with school transportation.
This initiative is not just about providing transportation; it is also a strategic effort to support educational attendance and combat school dropout rates, particularly among girls in rural areas. By improving access to education, the provincial government aims to enhance educational outcomes and overall indicators within the local education system. The partnership involves multiple stakeholders, including the regional authority of Souss Massa, the local development company for urban transport in Agadir, the regional office of the National Road Safety Agency, and the provincial council of Chtouka Aït Baha.
Notably, this school transport fleet serves over 20,000 students, with approximately half being girls. This program is considered a vital mechanism for reducing school dropout rates and ensuring better educational enrollment rates across various regions.
