Casablanca to Establish Permanent Artisan Fair at Villa Mauvillier Site
On June 22, 2026, the city of Casablanca unveiled plans for the future of the site that once housed the Villa Mauvillier, located at the intersection of Zerktouni and Anfa boulevards. The decision, made by Aziz Akhannouch, favors the establishment of a permanent artisan fair over previous proposals by Tower Seven Art.
This 551 square meter parcel, which has been the focus of a prolonged dispute between the Casablanca municipality and Tower Seven Art, is set to be transformed into a vibrant marketplace that will showcase local craftsmanship and promote regional products. The decree for expropriation was signed by Akhannouch on June 9, 2026, officially transferring control of the site to the city's council, with Nabila Rmili tasked with overseeing the implementation of this new project.
The initiative aims not only to enhance the cultural landscape of Casablanca but also to support local artisans and contribute to the economy by creating a space dedicated to the promotion and sale of traditional crafts. This development is anticipated to attract both locals and tourists, fostering a greater appreciation for Moroccan craftsmanship.
