Aziz Mantrach Unveils Ambitious Vision for ASMEX Presidency

Aziz Mantrach's Vision for a Stronger ASMEX

As a candidate for the presidency of the Moroccan Exporters Confederation (ASMEX), Aziz Mantrach has recently shared his comprehensive roadmap in a public document. His proposal is structured around five key pillars: governance, member services, digitalization, market access, and influence. With nearly four decades of experience in international trade, export industry, maritime transport, and logistics, Mantrach brings a wealth of expertise to the table. He has previously served as the president of the International Federation of Ship Agents (FONASBA) in London and led the Moroccan Professional Association of Maritime Agents (APRAM) for fifteen years. Currently, he holds a position as a board member of PORTNET and serves as the vice president of ASMEX, overseeing the logistics division. Mantrach's dual ambition is clear: to strengthen existing structures, accelerate transformation, and enhance ASMEX’s influence.

Five Core Commitments to Drive Change

Mantrach's proposal is built around five core commitments aimed at revitalizing ASMEX and supporting its members. Firstly, he emphasizes the need to create a robust, united, and indispensable ASMEX by strengthening representation and establishing a collective, transparent governance model. Secondly, he aims to place exporters at the heart of ASMEX's actions, proposing the creation of a permanent listening cell and the enhancement of services tailored for SMEs, alongside a stronger regional presence. The third commitment focuses on modernizing ASMEX through digital tools and artificial intelligence, which includes developing an intelligent platform that offers regulatory alerts, sector analyses, and market opportunities.

Fourthly, Mantrach is committed to opening more markets by removing barriers to competitiveness and providing support for companies seeking to expand internationally. Lastly, he seeks to bolster ASMEX's influence by fostering structured dialogue with the government, administrative bodies, and institutional partners. A particular emphasis is placed on supporting exporting SMEs, which he deems essential yet often inadequately supported. To address this, he proposes initiatives such as the 'ASMEX Academy' for training and improved access to strategic information through digital tools. Furthermore, he advocates for a stronger territorial anchoring, asserting that Morocco's export landscape extends beyond Casablanca, and businesses in cities like Tangier, Agadir, Marrakech, and Fes should receive equal service levels.

Aziz Mantrach's vision for ASMEX also encompasses a full digitization of its services. He clarifies that while artificial intelligence will enhance efficiency, it will not replace human expertise. In terms of institutional relations, he calls for a collaborative approach with public authorities, stating that exporters do not seek privileges but rather a more competitive and responsive environment. Among the priority areas for collaboration are administrative simplification, streamlining border operations, export financing, and support for decarbonization initiatives. Looking ahead, Mantrach envisions that by 2030, ASMEX will be recognized as one of the most effective and influential professional organizations in Africa, providing indispensable support for Moroccan businesses in their international development.
