Alemais Designer Lesleigh Jermanus Unveils Resort 2027 Collection in Spain

Alemais Designer Lesleigh Jermanus Showcases Resort 2027 Collection

As winter approaches, Lesleigh Jermanus, the creative mind behind the Australian fashion label Alemais, has chosen a picturesque island off the coast of Spain to unveil her Resort 2027 collection. Leaving behind the dreary grey clouds of Australia, Jermanus packed an array of vibrant green net dresses and eye-catching Rorschach floral prints, setting the stage for her second international runway show on the stunning Ilia Dei Rei, located near Menorca. "Who wouldn’t want to bask in the sun and take a dip in the sea?" Jermanus exclaimed with enthusiasm before the much-anticipated show commenced. This collection is not just about fashion; it encapsulates a sense of freedom and fluidity, which Jermanus believes is crucial in the fashion industry.

The Resort 2027 runway show is a significant milestone for Alemais, following a successful international debut in Marrakech last year. The brand’s rise to prominence is evident as it has earned a place on the esteemed Business of Fashion 500 List, a notable recognition that aligns Alemais with other iconic Australian labels such as Zimmermann and Aje. "I was completely taken aback when I learned of our inclusion," Jermanus reflected, acknowledging the validation it brings to her brand’s unique vision. With steady growth primarily in international markets, she emphasizes the importance of balancing energy between global expansion and maintaining local loyalty.

Challenges and Inspirations Behind the Collection

The journey to this moment has not been without its difficulties. Jermanus acknowledges the complexities of navigating international markets, including logistical challenges that have occasionally hindered operations, particularly in the Middle East. Nevertheless, she remains optimistic, stating, "If something goes wrong in one area, it often aligns perfectly in another." The Resort 2027 collection draws inspiration from the ceramics of Mallorca-based artist Sophie Wahlquist, a passion that Jermanus cultivated during the solitude of COVID-19 lockdowns. "The process of working with ceramics, where you start with a dry form and bring it to life with gloss and texture, mirrors the evolution of our clothing designs," she explained. Jermanus recognizes that while there may be easier paths to success, embracing the fear of the unknown is essential for brand evolution. "If I’m not challenged by what we’re creating, then we’re not moving forward as a brand," she concluded.
