French media reports indicate that the incident was a result of complications during the boarding process, which stemmed from the absence of the security personnel responsible for inspections and monitoring. This situation arose due to widespread absences within the contracted security firm, allegedly due to illness, leading to a temporary halt in the passenger boarding process. Fabrice Bouquet, the director of Vatry Airport, stated that the incident was entirely unforeseen, pointing out that there was no security staff available at the time the boarding process began. Furthermore, it was impossible to provide immediate alternatives, ultimately resulting in the aircraft departing empty.
As of now, the affected passengers have not received any compensation, and accountability remains a contentious issue among the involved parties. The airport asserts that the airline bears organizational responsibility, while Ryanair contends that the situation does not fall within its purview of responsibility and refuses to compensate the passengers.
