Significant Developments in Tisseltant: Seven Local Councillors Suspended

Suspension of Local Councillors in Tisseltant

In a significant move, Khalid Habbil, the Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region, has decided to suspend seven local councillors from Tisseltant due to serious irregularities identified by a committee from the General Inspectorate of Territorial Administration under the Ministry of the Interior. This decision marks a crucial step in addressing governance issues within the local council.

According to exclusive sources from Anbaetv, the affected councillors received their suspension notices on Wednesday, effectively halting their duties until a final ruling is rendered by the administrative court. This decisive action reflects the Wali's commitment to upholding the law and ensuring accountability in local governance.

The Wali has initiated procedures to dismiss the councillors, including the former president of the council, based on the stipulations of Organic Law No. 113.14 concerning local authorities, particularly Article 20, which outlines the grounds for such actions. The recent measures were prompted by inquiries sent by the Ministry of the Interior regarding issues related to the issuance of repair permits, connection permits, and economic licenses, further highlighting the need for transparency and adherence to regulatory frameworks.

It is noteworthy that the Wali of Marrakech-Safi had previously referred the case of Abdelaziz Driouch, the former president of the Tisseltant council, to the administrative judiciary. The administrative court has set a date for deliberation on this matter for the twelfth of this month, signaling ongoing scrutiny of local governance practices.

Additionally, the Wali has undertaken various measures to mitigate the chaotic state of urban planning within the region. In a recent extraordinary council session, a decision was approved to suspend the issuance of all building permits in areas covered by the urban planning document until a comprehensive study of the territory and a reassessment of the sector's regulatory plans can be conducted. This approach aims to restore order and ensure sustainable development practices are adhered to in Tisseltant.

It is also important to mention that the Tisseltant Municipal Council will convene its regular May session tomorrow, May 7, in the absence of the eight suspended councillors, with only 23 members present for the meeting.
