Renewed Proceedings in Fes Court for Officer's Injury Case
On the morning of Thursday, May 7, 2026, the Criminal Appeals Chamber of the Fes Court of Appeal decided to postpone the trial of an individual accused of causing permanent disability to a police officer from the Fes Security Directorate. The trial has been rescheduled to May 21 of this month to allow for the preparation of the case file and the completion of discussion procedures.
The events leading to this case date back to October 2025 when a police officer was subjected to a serious assault in the Sidi Boujida neighborhood of Fes, shortly after returning from his duties. The assailant, who was heavily intoxicated, unexpectedly attacked the officer with a sharp weapon, forcing the victim to defend himself by blocking the blows with his hands. Unfortunately, this resulted in the amputation of several fingers and left him with a permanent disability.
Reports indicate that urgent medical intervention at a private clinic prevented the officer from losing his entire hand. Initially, the primary criminal court had sentenced the accused to six years in prison along with a civil compensation of 60,000 dirhams. However, the civil party has since appealed the ruling, seeking penalties that commensurate with the extent of the physical and professional harm suffered by the victim.
