Significant Growth in Morocco's Car Exports
In an impressive display of economic resilience, Morocco's automotive exports reached a remarkable MAD 42 billion by the end of March 2026, reflecting a significant year-on-year growth of 12.1%. This substantial increase was highlighted in the latest report from the Exchange Office, which attributes this growth primarily to surging sales across several key segments within the automotive industry. Notably, the manufacturing segment saw a robust increase of 23.7%, amounting to MAD 16.88 billion, while the cabling segment also experienced a healthy rise of 10.9%, totaling MAD 16.04 billion.
Furthermore, the aerospace sector also contributed positively to Morocco's export figures, with exports rising by 12.6% to approximately MAD 8 billion. This increase was driven by sales growth in both the structural assembly segment, which surged by 18.6%, and the Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS), which saw a modest increase of 1.6%. However, it is important to note that not all sectors within the Moroccan economy are experiencing growth; the Exchange Office's bulletin reported declines in exports for several other categories, including textiles and leather, which fell by 14.1%, and phosphates and their derivatives, which declined by 7.4%. Additionally, exports in electronics and electricity decreased by 4.7%, while the agricultural and agri-food sector saw a slight reduction of 2.3%.
Overall, Morocco's total exports recorded a growth of 3.3%, reaching MAD 120.7 billion by the conclusion of the first quarter of the year. This indicates a resilient economy that is adapting and growing, particularly within the automotive and aerospace sectors, showcasing Morocco's potential as a significant player in the global market.
