Marrakech Initiates Major Overhaul of Public Restrooms

Marrakech's Commitment to Modern Public Facilities

The municipality of Marrakech has embarked on an ambitious project aimed at upgrading the public restrooms situated throughout the city. This extensive initiative seeks to enhance the conditions for both residents and the millions of tourists who flock to the vibrant city each year. The renovation project encompasses numerous locations across some of the most iconic and frequented areas of Marrakech.

Key sites included in this modernization effort are the vicinity of the famous Jamaa El Fna square, the bustling souks of Lalla Rkia and Guessabine, as well as various neighborhoods such as Bab Agnaou, Bab Mellah, Bab Doukkala, Bab Dbagh, and Bab Ghmat. Additional locations targeted for improvement include the picturesque Lalla Hasna gardens, the Golf Avenue, Msalla square, and the municipal station area. Furthermore, the districts of Sidi Youssef Ben Ali and Ménara-Guéliz are also part of this renovation agenda.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance public amenities within the city, particularly in high-traffic zones. The primary goal is to ensure that clean, functional, and accessible restroom facilities are available to everyone, including individuals with reduced mobility, for whom appropriate amenities will be provided. The projected duration for the completion of these renovations is set at eight months.
