The city of Marrakech has officially commenced the 58th edition of the Francophone Housing Network Conference on Friday, May 7th. This significant event, organized by the Group Al Omran, is set to take place over two days, on May 8th and 9th, under the auspices of the Ministry of National Land Use Planning, Urban Planning, Housing, and City Policy.
This high-level international gathering brings together a multitude of decision-makers, experts, and representatives from various institutions within the Francophone community, with a central theme focused on 'Towards an Integrated Approach for Sustainable Affordable Housing.' This theme is particularly relevant in the context of increasing challenges related to rapid urbanization and the growing demand for housing.
The organization of this event aligns with strategic directions aimed at enhancing the right to adequate housing, reducing spatial disparities, and fostering international cooperation, especially within the Francophone sphere. This initiative reflects the active dynamics of housing policies in Morocco.
Through this conference, the Group Al Omran aims to highlight its role in implementing public policies related to housing and land use, while showcasing Morocco's experience in developing innovative and sustainable housing models. The conference seeks to reinforce Morocco's position in international discussions surrounding housing and urban development, aspiring to establish the country as a platform for dialogue and exchange of experiences on the challenges posed by modern cities, particularly in light of environmental and social constraints.
The conference program includes general sessions and thematic workshops addressing several key topics. Among these discussions will be achieving a balance between social, economic, and environmental dimensions in housing, as well as issues related to urban rehabilitation and enhancing the resilience of cities in the face of crises.
Discussions will also explore ways to improve territorial governance and develop partnerships among various stakeholders, alongside examining the role of technological innovation and digital transformation in modernizing the housing sector. Furthermore, new financing models that integrate public, private, and international institutional sectors will be investigated.
This meeting is anticipated to serve as a strategic platform for exchanging visions on the future of cities, proposing practical solutions that respond to rapid urban transformations, and contributing to providing decent and affordable housing for wide segments of society.
