Marrakech Court Sentences Islamic Education Teacher to Eight Years for Sexual Assault

Teacher Convicted of Sexual Assault on Students

A first-instance criminal chamber at the Marrakech Court of Appeal has sentenced an Islamic education teacher to eight years in prison following a conviction for the sexual assault of two students. This decision came after the chamber deliberated on the case and heard the final words from both the accused and his defense team, as well as testimonies from the students who were victims of the assault.

The disturbing events unfolded in the vicinity of Chichaoua, where gendarmes from the Chichaoua brigade referred the teacher, who worked at an educational institution in the commune of Mjat, to the public prosecutor's office. This referral came amid suspicions surrounding his involvement in the sexual assault of two students at his home, under the pretense of offering them additional tutoring sessions.

The referral decision followed the teacher's detention during the investigation into the sexual assault case, based on a complaint filed by the parents of the two students, who accused him of sexually assaulting their children. According to sources from "Goud", the teacher exploited additional tutoring sessions to lure the students and establish inappropriate relationships with them. One of the victims disclosed the abuse to his parent, prompting the filing of a complaint that led to the teacher's arrest and subsequent investigation to determine if there were other victims on his list.
