Catering Provider Seeks Compensation from Fez Authorities
A catering provider in Fez, located in the Fes-Meknes region of Morocco, has taken legal action to recover outstanding payments amounting to approximately 13 million dirhams for services rendered during the COVID-19 pandemic. This decision follows a previous legal case in which the head of the budget and procurement department at the region was held accountable and faced various penalties under a prior ruling.
The catering company has submitted two formal petitions to the administrative court in Fez, requesting these overdue payments. The court has accepted both cases and will continue to review them on August 3rd, after the issuance of a notification regarding the findings from the investigation into the matter at hand.
This company provided meals for security personnel, health workers, and military doctors from March 20 to June 30, 2020, coinciding with the extraordinary measures taken during the pandemic. They have prepared invoices and signed delivery receipts to substantiate their claims.
The catering firm has calculated the cost of meals served to the security forces and health workers at over 3 million dirhams, while the total outstanding amount for services provided to police personnel is approximately 10 million dirhams. After reviewing meal prices and adjusting them, the company is now requesting a reduced payment from the regional authorities.
