The mother, Fatma, explained that in Morocco, the medication needed for Mundeer's condition is prohibitively expensive and that there is a lack of appropriate treatment available. "In Morocco, the medication is too expensive and there is no adequate treatment for my child's illness," she lamented. Mundeer's health condition is dire; he cannot sit up, move his hands or legs, and requires ongoing treatment and care. The family’s desperate decision to leave their home in Castillejos was fueled by the urgent need for medical assistance that they could not access in their home country.

She herself fell from the rocks during the treacherous passage. Thankfully, the Civil Guard intervened, rescuing Mundeer from the water and transporting him to the hospital, averting what could have been a tragic outcome for the family.
