Waldorf Astoria Unveils Luxurious Hotel in Rabat-Salé, Blending Modernity with Moroccan Heritage

Waldorf Astoria Opens in the Heart of Mohammed VI Tower

The esteemed Waldorf Astoria brand has officially opened its doors on April 20, 2023, in Rabat-Salé, situated within the iconic Mohammed VI Tower, which stands as the tallest structure in Morocco. This luxurious hotel aims to redefine hospitality standards in Morocco's capital, offering an impressive 55 suites and rooms, four dining concepts—including a restaurant helmed by Michelin-starred chef Alain Ducasse—a panoramic spa, and over 1,400 square meters of event space.

A Futuristic Architectural Marvel

The Mohammed VI Tower is not just a hotel; it is a monument that symbolizes Morocco's vibrant future. Designed by the renowned Spanish architect Rafael de la Hoz in collaboration with Moroccan architect Hakim Benjelloun, its structure resembles a rocket poised for launch, reflecting the country’s forward momentum. The interior design, crafted by celebrated interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon, strikes a harmonious balance between sleek modern lines and rich references to Moroccan craftsmanship and heritage. The hotel boasts one of North Africa's most significant private art collections, featuring nearly 7,000 meticulously curated artworks, artifacts, and books.

The luxury accommodations range from Deluxe rooms to a spectacular Penthouse Duplex, each designed to echo the artistry and landscapes of Morocco. The delicate use of stucco, intricate metalwork, precious marbles, and uniquely hued zelliges imbues every space with the intimate feel of a private residence. True to the brand's signature, every stay is personalized with a dedicated concierge, ensuring a tailored experience for each guest.

Culinary excellence is at the heart of the Waldorf Astoria Rabat-Salé experience. The iconic Peacock Alley, located on the 30th floor, welcomes guests with breathtaking 180-degree views, serving afternoon teas, lunches, and cocktails. The signature restaurant, Aldabaran, led by Chef Alain Ducasse, brings internationally acclaimed cuisine to Rabat, featuring dishes inspired by the Riviera, such as Gambero Rosso and duck in sweet-hot sauce. For those seeking local flavors, the Brasserie Magnolia, under the guidance of Moroccan chef Lahcen Hafid, offers a culinary journey from Morocco to the Levant using regional ingredients. A pan-Asian inspired lounge is set to enhance this exquisite culinary offering soon.

The Waldorf Astoria Spa, located on the 31st and 32nd floors, provides a serene escape above the horizon, with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Bouregreg Valley. It combines Moroccan wellness rituals, including a traditional hammam and Moroccan treatments, with the expertise of Swiss techniques from Valmont. The spa facilities include seven treatment rooms, a detoxifying Iyashi dome, a sauna, and a panoramic indoor pool with a mirrored ceiling.

This hotel opening is strategically timed to align with Morocco's robust tourism growth, having welcomed nearly 20 million visitors in 2025. "We are proud to introduce the iconic Waldorf Astoria brand to Rabat-Salé, establishing a new benchmark for refined luxury in Morocco's capital," stated Guy Hutchinson, President of Hilton Middle East and Africa.

According to the hotel’s General Manager, this inauguration promises unique experiences. "Waldorf Astoria Rabat-Salé embodies our brand's essence: a dialogue between heritage and modernity, art and hospitality, culture and design. Every detail, from the art collection to the cuisine, tells a story of connection and bridges worlds," emphasized Guy Bertraud, General Manager.

Conveniently located near UNESCO World Heritage sites such as the Kasbah of the Oudayas and the Hassan Tower, and adjacent to the Grand Theater of Rabat, the hotel provides privileged access to the region's culture and history. Reservations can be made through the hotel’s website (waldorfastoria.com) or via the Hilton Honors loyalty program app.
