This new center in Casablanca is the third of its kind for the group globally, following similar establishments in Turin, Italy, and São Paulo, Brazil. Designed to serve the Moroccan market and the West African region, the center's primary functions include receiving and dismantling end-of-life vehicles, selling used spare parts primarily within Morocco, and collecting components designated for recycling.
Furthermore, Jean-Christophe Bertrand, Stellantis' Senior Vice President for Parts and Services in the Middle East and Africa, stated that the market for reused spare parts in Morocco could reach a staggering five billion dirhams (approximately $544 million) by the year 2030. Bertrand highlighted that there are currently around 4.7 million vehicles in operation in Morocco, with an estimated 17,000 vehicles reaching the end of their lifespan annually. He emphasized that the company's activities in Morocco present a strategic opportunity for expanding its business in other geographical areas.
It is noteworthy that Morocco surpassed South Africa earlier this year to become the largest automobile producer on the African continent. This positioning underscores the nation's growing significance in the automotive industry and highlights Stellantis' commitment to enhancing its operational footprint in the region.
