Six Migrants Successfully Cross into Ceuta Amid Stormy Weather

Recent Migration Incident in Ceuta

On May 9, 2023, a group of six migrants successfully entered Ceuta irregularly after scaling the double border fence that separates the Spanish enclave from Morocco. This daring attempt occurred during a period marked by strong winds and even rain, as reported by police sources.

The migrants, who hail from sub-Saharan Africa, have been confirmed to be in good health following their arrival. They have since made their way to the Temporary Immigration Center (CETI), which is currently home to approximately 550 individuals, despite being designed to accommodate only 512.

Concerns Over Border Security

The Unified Civil Guard Association (AUGC) has raised alarms regarding the "collapse" of the border perimeter separating the autonomous city from Morocco. This issue has arisen due to several sections of the double fence being displaced as a result of recent storms that have affected the Strait of Gibraltar region.
