Major Drug Interdiction in Algeria
The Regional Service for the Fight Against Illicit Drug Trafficking (SRLTIS) in Tlemcen has successfully thwarted a major drug trafficking attempt originating from Morocco, according to a statement released by the National Security Directorate. This operation, which took place in the city of Aïn Sefra, located in the Naâma province, was the result of thorough investigations that allowed authorities to intercept this significant quantity of drugs intended for various regions in central Algeria.
During this operation, law enforcement officials seized a total of one quintal and 27 kilograms of processed cannabis, commonly referred to as kif. The authorities also apprehended one suspect, who has since been handed over to the judicial system for further processing. This successful interdiction underscores the ongoing efforts by Algerian authorities to combat the illicit drug trade and safeguard public health and safety.
