Morocco's Concrete Commitment to Gaza: Mike Waltz Praises Strategic Engagement

Morocco's Role in Stabilizing Gaza Recognized by U.S. Ambassador

In a significant acknowledgment of Morocco's proactive stance in international diplomacy, Mike Waltz, the United States Ambassador to the United Nations, has commended the country for its concrete commitments towards stabilizing Gaza. This recognition comes as Morocco is actively participating in military, humanitarian, and financial efforts aimed at fostering peace in the region. The ambassador underscored that Morocco's contributions extend well beyond mere rhetoric, highlighting its involvement in the International Stabilization Force (ISF) established by United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.

During a recent open debate at the UN Security Council focused on Middle Eastern affairs, Waltz listed Morocco among several nations that are taking tangible steps to ensure stability in Gaza. He specifically praised Morocco's readiness to provide troops and resources, stating that such actions are essential for facilitating the withdrawal of Israeli Defense Forces from Gaza under clearly defined criteria and timelines, supervised by independent international observers. This debate, led by Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, highlighted the increasing role of contributing nations within the region.

Morocco's Comprehensive Contributions and International Support

Earlier, on March 24, Nickolay Mladenov, the UN's Special Coordinator for Gaza, confirmed Morocco's participation in the ISF, identifying it as one of five nations actively deploying troops alongside Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, and Albania. These contributions are being coordinated under U.S. command, with Major General Jasper Jeffers overseeing operations. Mladenov's remarks encouraged other nations to join this vital initiative, reinforcing Morocco's leadership role in fostering international cooperation for Gaza's stabilization.

Additionally, on February 19, during the inaugural meeting of the Peace Council in Washington, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita announced the country's intention to send police and military personnel to Gaza, marking Morocco as the first Arab nation to publicly commit to such a deployment. Bourita also mentioned plans to establish a field hospital in Gaza and emphasized Morocco's financial contributions to the Peace Council, reiterating that, "Under the High Instructions of His Majesty, Morocco is committed to supporting the Peace Council's efforts in Gaza, particularly in security, health, and promoting tolerance and coexistence." This commitment received further endorsement from U.S. President Donald Trump, who lauded Morocco's initiatives during the meeting, stating, "What you are accomplishing is remarkable," and recognizing that Morocco's engagement transcends financial support, encompassing active personnel contributions for maintaining ceasefire and fostering lasting peace.

Through its robust initiatives and strategic partnerships, Morocco is not only playing a crucial role in the stabilization of Gaza but also setting a precedent for international cooperation in conflict resolution and humanitarian assistance.
