Morocco's Aerospace Industry Grows with New Pratt & Whitney Plant in Casablanca

Pratt & Whitney Canada Launches Manufacturing Facility in Casablanca

In a significant boost to its aerospace sector, Morocco has welcomed the opening of a new manufacturing facility by Pratt & Whitney Canada in the Midparc industrial zone of Nouaceur. This state-of-the-art plant, which spans an impressive 130,000 square feet, is dedicated to the production of high-precision components for the PT6 engine family, a popular choice for regional and utility aircraft across the globe. This strategic investment is expected to create approximately 200 jobs by 2030, further solidifying Morocco's role as an emerging player in the aerospace industry.

The establishment of this facility not only enhances Pratt & Whitney Canada's production capabilities but also aligns with the growing demand for aircraft engines, as companies strive to build more resilient supply chains. Maria Della Posta, the president of Pratt & Whitney Canada, emphasized the importance of this site as a vital extension of the company’s global manufacturing network. The rapid construction of the plant, which began in 2024, reflects the urgency and commitment to establishing robust operations in Morocco, including the hiring and training of local workforce and the installation of advanced machinery designed to optimize efficiency and uphold quality standards.

Strengthening Morocco's Aerospace Ecosystem

This expansion is part of a broader strategy by RTX, Pratt & Whitney's parent company, to deepen its roots in Morocco, where Collins Aerospace, another RTX subsidiary, has been operational since 2012. Together, these entities contribute to a local workforce of approximately 250 employees and exemplify the growing strength of the Moroccan aerospace sector, which has been thriving with an annual growth rate of 15% to 20% over the past decade. The industry is now home to more than 140 companies, providing employment for over 20,000 individuals and generating upwards of $2.5 billion in exports each year.

Industrial hubs like Midparc Casablanca have played a pivotal role in attracting international manufacturers and suppliers, fostering partnerships with global giants such as Boeing and Safran. This collaboration is vital in nurturing a sustainable local ecosystem that has progressed from mere assembly operations to sophisticated production of engine components and high-precision parts integrated into international supply chains. Morocco's commitment to workforce development, showcased by training centers such as the Institut des Métiers de l’Aéronautique, and key events like the Marrakech Air Show, further solidify its position as a burgeoning aerospace hub.
