Morocco's Tourism Growth from Brazil
In a significant boost to its tourism sector, Morocco has reported a remarkable 14 percent increase in arrivals from Brazil during the first half of 2026. According to the Moroccan Tourism Office, the number of Brazilian visitors surged to 30,132 by the end of June, compared to 26,545 during the same period last year. This growth is closely linked to the resumption of Royal Air Maroc's direct flights between Casablanca and Sao Paulo, which are now operating four times a week using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The airline's flights have seen an impressive average load factor of 83 percent, accommodating around 250 passengers per flight, and carrying a total of 52,500 passengers between January and June of this year.
Othmane Baba, Royal Air Maroc’s representative in Brazil, emphasized the success of the Casablanca-Sao Paulo route, stating that it highlights the increasing interest Brazilians have in visiting Morocco. The airline plans to further expand its operations in South America, with a fifth weekly flight scheduled to commence on October 28. Additionally, Royal Air Maroc has entered into an interline agreement with Brazilian airline LATAM, which will facilitate smoother connections for passengers traveling from various Brazilian cities to the Moroccan carrier's flights through its Casablanca hub. In the longer term, Royal Air Maroc aims to establish a daily service between Casablanca and Sao Paulo by 2027, with a potential new route to Rio de Janeiro also being considered, contingent on aircraft availability.
Brazil as a Key Market for Moroccan Tourism
The ongoing growth in Brazilian tourism to Morocco builds on a strong performance in 2025, when 54,475 Brazilian visitors traveled to the country—marking a staggering 35 percent increase from the previous year and surpassing pre-pandemic levels of 47,113 visitors recorded in 2019. Moreover, overnight stays by Brazilian tourists reached 84,228 last year, reflecting a 47 percent increase and solidifying Brazil's status as a rapidly growing source market for Moroccan tourism. This upward trend underscores Morocco's strategic positioning to attract more international visitors and strengthen its tourism sector.
