Morocco's Impressive Performance at the Para-Athletics Grand Prix

In a remarkable display of talent and determination, Morocco concluded the 10th edition of the Moulay El Hassan Para-Athletics Grand Prix, held at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, with an impressive third-place finish overall. This prestigious event brought together over 500 athletes from 58 countries, solidifying Morocco's position as a rising force in the realm of para-athletics. The Moroccan team showcased their prowess by securing a total of 31 medals, comprising 8 gold, 16 silver, and 7 bronze, reflecting both depth and consistency in their performance.

The significance of Morocco's achievement is magnified by the high caliber of international competition present at the Grand Prix. The event was dominated by Brazil, which took first place with an outstanding haul of 57 medals, followed closely by China in second with 34 medals. In this context, Morocco's third-place finish is a testament to the country's growing capabilities in disability sports.

A Platform for Emerging Talent

Hamid El Aouni, the President of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Sports for Persons with Disabilities (FRMSPSH), expressed immense pride in the accomplishments of the athletes. He highlighted that while the seasoned competitors met expectations, the Grand Prix also served as an essential platform for discovering new talent, providing emerging athletes with the invaluable opportunity to compete against world champions and enhance their international standings in preparation for future Paralympic events.

The successful transition of the event from Marrakech to the newly established facilities at the Olympic Stadium was well-received, offering world-class conditions for the 120 track and field events held over the course of three days. With a robust support system comprising nearly 100 referees and 150 volunteers, the Grand Prix not only showcased Morocco's organizational excellence but also marked a significant milestone in the nation’s journey toward becoming a leading contender in para-athletics on both the African and global stages.
