Morocco is actively seeking to secure an impressive $26 billion in funding for its ambitious gas pipeline project in collaboration with Nigeria. On July 19, leaders from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) formalized their support for the project by signing an intergovernmental agreement. The pipeline, which is set to stretch over 6,800 kilometers, is projected to have a capacity of 30 billion cubic meters of gas, with Morocco slated to receive half of this volume while the remainder is directed toward European markets.
The commencement of construction is anticipated in 2028, with the first gas deliveries expected by 2031, contingent upon the successful acquisition of the necessary financial commitments.
